How to Install Window Blinds on Your Own

Window blinds are an easy and affordable way give a new home privacy and to control the light. But most blinds these days offer much more than mere functionality. They are also used to decorate the home, to give it personality. Today's window blinds are available in a myriad of colours, styles and materials.

Another great thing about window blinds is that they are a cinch to install. In fact, most homeowners choose to the job on their own. For many, it is the first home improvement project they will complete in their new home.

Where to start? The first thing you must do is measure each and every window that requires jaloezieen. Use a tape measure and record the height and the width from the inside of the window frame, since that is where the blinds will be installed. Be as precise as you possibly can and try to measure the same way each time.

Later, when you go shopping for blinds, give the measurements to the window treatment professional. Remember to tell him that you measured from the inside of the window frame. He will then show you the blinds that are available for your window sizes. At present, the most popular material for new homeowners is wood because it adds warmth and is an exceptional insulator.

But no matter which kind of blind you select, installation is always the same. The only tools you will need are a stepladder and a power drill. Since you will be up on the ladder, it is always a good idea to have someone lend you a hand with this project. Again, this is a project many couples like to do together.

All blinds are secured at the top of the window frame by metal or plastic brackets. These brackets must be screw to the inside of the window frame on each side. Once the brackets are in place, the main rod from which the blinds depend can be inserted into them. And that is it! You are done!
